SPOILER ALERT: Don't read unless you have reached chapter 6 in Voyager.
"Never," he whispered to me. "Never. Never another but me! Look at me! Tell me! Look at me, Claire!" .... "Never, he said, more softly, "For you are mine. My wife, my heart, my soul." ...."Never," he whispered to me, face only inches from mine....
"Never," I said, and turned my head, closing my eyes to escape the intensity of his gaze.
Really? Really, Claire? "Never"?? Well you sure as shit could have fooled me when it's not even a year after you left... and you're already feeding Frank a La Leche cocktail and riding the waves of the storm on the floor of your daughter's - JAMIE'S daughter's - nursery.
MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE CAVE....
It's SEVEN YEARS LATER and Poor Jamie is living like Osama Bin Fraser, hiding out, only going out at night and shaving once a month. That man loves his good shave! And he has only mentioned Claire's name ONCE in 7 years. He can't even THINK about being with another woman. And yet there she is... on the floor of the nursery with Frank. Or was. SIX YEARS AGO.
"all the promises we break from the cradle to the grave and all I want is you." ~U2
Osama bin Fraser. ROFLMMFAO!!!!!!

ReplyDeletefound your blog, read a few entries, then realized I had to back and start at the beginning. Like you, I went from needing a what-the-hell-to-read-after-Twilight fix to stumbling on the Outlander series. This post was hilarious! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the La Leche cocktail scene... do you think this happened at the very same time while Jamie was in Ardsmuir and dreaming about Claire? Did Jamie time travel to the future like his ghost appearance in the beginning....
ReplyDeleteCarol - I think I love you!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of that scene with Claire and Frank...I was thinking the same thing. But I think she's basically surviving...
my husband once told me that guys are able to separate sex from feelings. Claire seems to be able to do that too.
I have just discovered the "Outlander" books this weekend - already starting book 4 and watching the TV series too! Obsessed can not even grasp it and I can not even express my joy at finding this blog. Hilarious, witty, and passionate. I love it - this one is great! Had me rolling so I thought I would say hi :-)
ReplyDeleteHI Nicola! Welcome! I forgot all about this entry and am actually laughing, myself!! LOL!!! :)
DeleteI started the audiobooks back in May of this year COMMA HOWEVER I just found your blog yesterday and I am alive! It is so awesome to know I am not the only one obsessing over these books. I am reading all of your summaries now and love them. I just finished Voyager and am waiting for my credit from Audible to get Drums of Autumn. I have only scratched the surface of your blog but I am all in!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to MOP, Sharron! Make yourself at home!! :)
DeleteI too have just discovered the books after a friend recommended the show - absolutely loving them both and your blog. Addiction is a strong word and it describes me at the moment - listening to the soundtrack at work and reading the books at EVERY opportunity. It's been a long time between good reads - thank god for Diana Gabaldon - please keep them coming (and your blogs Carol, they crack me up - still laughing at Osama Bin Fraser)
ReplyDeleteJane
Welcome Jane!! Thanks for reminding me about Osama Bin Fraser. I forgot all about it and actually just cracked MYSELF up while rereading it! :)
DeleteI feel as addicted as all of the previous bloggers. I have never enjoyed a writers work as much as DG. I have read thru DofA and am rereading up to that book before I begin the last 4 hopefully 5 tomes. I am currently enjoying Voyager again and just joined your insightful & hilarious blog. I think all your comments so enhance the ADDICTION. Thank you all for feeding my ADDICTION. Cricket
