Oh Holy God indeed...

"A belted plaid, though, could hide a multitude of sins - or at the least, a dirk and pistol - let alone a random cockstand."

I can now die a happy woman.

  1. I have recently stumbled upon your site and I am also a HUGE...HUGE...Outlander fan. Even though I have read the series 3 times (so far!)and I already know what happens.. I have enjoyed reading your commentary for the first 4 books. Everytime I tell people about these books I always say the same thing...I want these characters to walk through my door and be apart of my life!! While reading the books I had a really hard time picturing Jamie in my head but I like some of your suggestions. I think my favorite character is Roger though. I find him exremely yummy! Bree on the other hand....not so much! Anyways I will continue to check back and read your thoughts:)

  2. Welcome Andrea! We're so glad you are reading - and commenting! I have been trying to read this afternoon - but I just keep having to stop and blog! I haven't posted a new blog in a while where I describe the latest chapters I've read... so that will have to be done tonight. Definitely check back! PS - Agree wholeheartedly about Bree and Roger. Roger is a tortured soul - it's impossible not to feel for the man. Bree - not so much. She's just so perfect at being an 18th century gal - AND a 20th century gal. HowEVER does she do it?! ;)

  3. Oh, you're getting to one of my favorite parts of FIERY CROSS. There are so many wonderful Jamie/Claire moments in that book. (And I love scenes like these where we get Jamie's thoughts about Claire!)

Do keep us posted on your reading progress. It's fun to watch as you make your way through the series for the first time.

  4. Karen says it very well. I am really enjoying your site and your observations and I have started the series again thanks to you all. That way Jamie, Claire, et al. continue to visit me!

  5. Thanks guys - it's a lot of fun meeting new people to discuss the books with. It's funny to me that I should be going through my first read because I am a Twilight fan... and am always so jealous when someone is on their first read. Then again - I can't wait to finish so I can reread Outlander. :)

  6. Carol: you need to finish so you can read Cross Stitch. That's my plan, anyway. :-)

  7. Wait--isn't Cross Stitch the British version of Outlander (aka, the first book)?? Confused...

  8. Andrea: No, I'm not completely delusional, but it makes me a bit sad (to say the least) that these characters aren't REAL.

I finished the series in October. *sniff sniff* I'm enjoying reading Carol's theories and observations.

I've just finished the 2nd Lord John book and really enjoyed it--surly cranky Jamie makes several appearances. ;)

  9. I keep forgetting about the Lord John books and get happy whenever I'm reminded, b/c I realize that it won't really be OVER when Echo is over...I'll still have my bestie LJ to read!

  10. Hi there! I just stumbled on this site and I love it. I am totally obsessed with the Outlander series and am on my second read-through of the books (I've actually read Outlander itself three times - I LOVE that book!). I am in Fiery Cross now. I didn't love this book the first time through but am enjoying it much more this time.

I am so glad to hear that the Lord John books are good as well. I was so sad when I finished Echo to think I would have to wait years for the next installment. Now I can look forward to the LJ books (once I wean myself from obsessively re-reading the Outlander ones!).

Thanks for the great site. I look forward to seeing what you all post/discuss next.
