Am I posting a video about making whisky? Yes, yes I am. This is what Jamie and Claire and Fergus and Marsali and the whole gang were always up to on the Ridge. Pretty cool, no?
You are verra welcome! I thought it was cool too, Melody! Wait until Tracey sees this. She was camping this weekend and very cut off from civilization!
Very cool! PS--was indeed camping, but felt verra at one with the Frasers, since 1) I was camping with my Outlander mentor, who is like the Master Yoda of My Outlander Purgatory, 2) read Lj and the Hand of Devils all weekend, and 3) ate BANNOCKS made over the open fire by my hubby and hubby of Outlander mentor! Good weekend had by all... :-)
Carol: John/Ben found the recipe online somewhere--will have to ask them. Basically, they put all the ingredients in a ziploc bag and kneaded in there, then dumped the dough into a cast iron skillet, covered it with foil, and put it on the campfire. Then we flipped the bannock disc when it was starting to get browned on the top.
I am the biggest dope who ever lived, however, b/c I didna document the making of. My phone had died by this point, so I couldna tweet any pics (see twitter for pics of the previous nights' dinners tho...mmmm)--and after we were just about done with breakfast, I realized that I could have used the flip video to film the whole thing. DUH.
Cool! And they were burning peat too. Verra interesting. Thanks for posting it.

ReplyDeleteVery interesting, thanks! I liked seeing the peat-cutting, too (thinking of Jamie and the other prisoners at Ardsmuir out cutting peats).
