Thanks all for another great Outlander chat! I'm so glad I got to make it for a bit!
As I mentioned, I am in the beginning of my Dragonfly in Amber reread... and it's a little slow going. Let's be honest - when you're stuck in the manse with Roger (not that I don't love me some Roger) and you see no end to the 20th centrury in site... well, you get a little frustrated. But as I mentioned at chat tonight, my crazy couple of weeks have let up...so I have more time to read, and will be blogging about Dragonfly verra soon, lads and lassies. Verra soon indeed...
I am listening to the DIA audio book at the moment, and went through the same feeling - something like "come OOOONNNNN....get on with it!", but then it switched times...and now I am 'come on.....get back to the future and the part where Claire realises Jamie might still live'!
ReplyDeleteDIA wasn't one of my favourites (none of them beat Outlander/Cross Sticth in my opinion), but I am glad to be listening to it rater than reading - it forces me to focus on the details when I might skim over them in my impatience to get to the next interesting bit if reading.
verra interesting discovering all the things that I missed when reading it!
Josie
sorry I missed you, Carol. My DIA reread is going verra slow too, but I'm finally out of France.
ReplyDeleteI got kicked out of chat last night and couldn't get back in.... but enjoyed it while I was there.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Mrs. Mush - I don't know know why that would happen. I could go back to Chat Roll but we had a lot of problems with people not being able to get in at all. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteErin - you are so lucky!! I am so jealous you're so far ahead.
Josie - wow you're right. I should be listening. Maybe my big sister will buy the audio and lend it to me. :)
Mrs. Mush--I don't know about you, but I THINK I got kicked off toward the end when I clicked a link elsewhere on the blog page. I went back to search for the chat window but it was closed and I had to enter the chat again--tho at that point, I didn't have any problems.
ReplyDeleteI've also started a reread of Dragonfly and am loving it. Roger Mac is just so HAWT--I forgot how hot he is. Right now he and Bree are combing through the boxes in the garage, and I'm literally hanging on every word, looking for some sort of clue I can use now that I know so much more about what happens than I did before....
I'm still back at Claire and Bree's arrival at the manse (by the way I love saying "manse".) It's funny because when I look back, I just feel like Claire spent that whole time at the manse curled up in that chair. LOL
ReplyDeleteI am listening to DIA on audiobook too. Liking it much better. Like Josie, I am finding details and nuances I missed reading! It has so much background - but it's still a verra good book. Davina brings it to life since we'll probably never see a movie! I just heard Claire's dream of Jamie and kinda missed it even after two reads. Hats off to Davina again. Wow!!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed DIA much more the 2nd time around. I found myself really hurrying through that book the first time so the second time around I was able to focus more on the details. It was amazing though the things I missed the first time around!! I tried to pay a lot of attention to Raymond as well since Diana has said that he will have his own book someday. It's funny rereading because I'm constantly looking for clues about stuff!
ReplyDeleteHow can I see the picture everyone is talking about!?!?!? From the wedding night??
ReplyDeleteI'm having trouble finishing Echo! I have made it about halfway through, I just dont seem to care that much about William and Lord John...
ReplyDeleteCan I skip any parts?? What a ridiculous question, right!?!?!? I have been reading the Immortals After Dark series... now that has kept my interest! WOW!!

ReplyDeleteAnonymous 2: Keep going with Echo. It gets better. Up until about Part 4 or 5, it's slow going, but trust me, things speed up. A lot.
I did not used to enjoy reading DIA and only did because it was part of the series. After my third reread or so, it became one of my favorites!
