My Outlander Purgatory friend, Jackie, sent in this fabulous song - "Pog aon oidhche earraich" - by a band named Runrig from Scotland. It's absolutely beautiful. Make sure you head on over to youtube and listen to more of their songs, too!
also try these songs: Cnoc na feille, an toll dhub, and especially "every river" -it's J&C all the way. I just love hearing the language spoken. It's adding a lot to my [re]readings.
The photos and videos are so amazing I have found myself jealous of Claire, that she gets to live there and I don't. [pouting]
Hey Carol! Interesting music...soothes my mind...it makes me sort of groggy....as if...i want a beer and a shot at 8am. Hows the Starks!! Great to see you at Christmas time! February already..my gosh. Hi to the family! -billy martin
me again music this time, -john denvers "annies song" is one of my song choices that is j & c , not scottish i know and an oldie and so simple but the lyrics always send a shiver up my spine.(and sometimes bring a tear to my eye) and this version has stunning scenery
thanks tracey just listened to "my sweet lady" , i hadn,t heard it before or can,t remember it. you could have issued a tissue warning lol or is it just me ?? and that is definately a voyager song :-)
Haha--most definitely NOT just you Lesley--it is absolutely a tear-jerker. It's on my Voyager playlist right after the mmmphm-ing part of the reunion... :-)
Actually, the song that can make me cry more than anything else is another John Denver song called "Poems, Prayers, and Promises." Give that a listen--and then think about what ended up happening to John Denver (he died in a plane crash, fyi) at the lines "it turns me on to think of growing old." You will be a sobbing mess--trust me...
I love the Outlander series and music so I love this post. I just thought I would put in a little something as well. Isla Grant is a folk singer from Scotland who sings a song called the Ghosts of Culloden. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2Q4OinyjHs This is where it can be found, it's very moving. I also think that the song colorblind by the counting crows is a great song for when Claire is leaving Jamie, right before the battle of Culloden. Thanks for all the great links everyone else has put on here, I enjoyed them.
Aren't Runrig the greatest? I made a whole playlist for them on YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=4150FCD007BB03D3&search_query=a+runrig+collection

How bout John Denver's "For Baby" for Jamie and his times with his grandchildren & Willie?
ReplyDeleteAnd hey, wasn't Flora McD the one who was a bit hot after the Big J at Aunti Jo's place? Grrr.
Nah, I take it back. Just re-listened and I think For Baby would have to be for Jamie's hippie reincarnation. Too flowery for JAMMF, my bad.
