Lads and Lassies, I have something totally serious to say...so please listen up. It may seem like a repeat, but it is much more heartfelt than anything I've ever posted about the topic in the past.
If you have not seen Monarch of the Glen, you are truly doing yourself a disservice. It is absolutely Outlander Prep 101. Not only does it convey life on a Highland estate - past and present - but it is one of the BEST series I've ever had the pleasure of watching. I feel almost honored to be able to take part in such a fantastic story...and I know you will agree, being the massive Outlander fans you are.
Do not be fooled into thinking this is just a silly dramedy set in the Highlands. My hub and I watched an episode tonight and I had to pause the DVD player so I could get a box of tissues. By the time the episode was finished, I had gone through 6 or 7 at a minimum.
Please don't read the comments if you haven't seen this show...because there are bound to be spoilers. Trust me - you don't want to know what happens. The show is too damned good.
Notice there are no links in this post. Whatever you do, I beg you NOT to make the mistake I did. Don't go snooping on IMDB or googling the show and the actors. You will find out things you'll wish you didn't know, a la Tracey and Echo. Enough said.

I seriously think you should a Purgatory blog on this show. I just finished Season 1 and plan to start Season 2 today. I know you're ahead of me, but maybe you could do a sort of recap on season 1 for the first entry - boy that ended on a cliffhanger. I just don't know what to make of Justine..are we supposed to like her or not??
ReplyDeleteLoooooooooove this show!! I watch it every night (I'm on season 5). Thanks again for letting us know about it!
ReplyDeleteJulia,
my answer is "not". But that's just my opinion.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this show! I'm just starting season 4.
ReplyDeleteI may start a Purgatory blog - it's just so hard not to discuss. Thank god my husband is watching it with me!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah - purgatory blog for sure! I would definitely read that :-) I love this show! Major Outlander prep.
ReplyDeleteYou have sucked me into this show. I just picked up Season 2 from the library yesterday and watched the first 2 episodes (with the dad and the neighbor with the old keg of whisky! Hillarious)
ReplyDeleteOkay Carol, I'm in! I'll be starting the first episode on Netflix as soon as I put the kids to bed!! Now, you need to trust me and keep reading TBH. It's only fair. ;)
ReplyDeleteHI ya! I've nominated you for a sweet blog award. Come back to my blog to copy and paste the award and bring it over here!
ReplyDeleteWell Done!

OK - watched first two episodes of Season 2...loving this show - I just saw on Amazon that the price for Season 3 really jumps; the first two were fairly inexpensive (through other sellers). Better check ebay.....
ReplyDeleteSo, it's Wednesday nights? What channel? What season are they in.... I'll have to rent the others to catch up, right. No problem, summer is here and I'll be looking for something to do.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, I just started The Bronze Horseman right before I read your page the other day. I love it already! I can't stop reading it. And I went out and bought the next book :)
hope you will write more about it!

ReplyDeleteNow I have something to watch while I'm on bedrest! Thank goodness for Netflix!
ReplyDeleteI have just completed the second season - wow, what a cliffhanger! And I (gulp!) ordered seasons 3 and 4 through other sellers on Amazon- Carol - is season 3 as good as the other two?
ReplyDeleteIt's on Netflix! Just started season 2. Katrina just disappeared from Fergal's train! If Arch and her don't kiss soon, im gonna go crazy! Thanks for the series suggestion. Lovin' it!
ReplyDeleteThis is honestly one of my favorite shows and now my in-laws love it as well! (They are big fans of Golly and Lexie) We are no working on my husband to like it as well.
ReplyDeleteNow I need to start rewatching it! :0)

I got to season 2 or season 3 (I'm not sure which one). I'm having a hard time wanting to go any further, I think it's because Archie always seems so stressed out and on edge and rarely smiles. It wears me out just watching him! Can anyone give me a heads up that his personality/attitude gets lighter/happier? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! Just finished season 3 - this show is incredible!! Christina - if you haven't seen season 3; please watch!!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHA
ReplyDeleteGolly in a Yankees hat! Fantastic
