Wee Ian and Joe Abernathy Cast on Season 3 of OUTLANDER on Starz
Remember Paoli!
Spoiler Alert! Dinna read unless ye have read Chapter 11, "Remember Paoli", in "Written in My Own Heart's Blood."
""We're taking him back to camp. You all heard what he said; Major General Charles Grey's kin to him. Might be as Colonel Smith will want to hang him in camp--or might even be as he'll want to send this man to General Wayne. Remember Paoli!"
"Remember Paoli!" Ragged cries echoed the call, and Grey rubbed at his swollen eye with his sleeve--tears were leaking from it and irritating his face. Paoli? What the devil was Paoli? And what had it to do with whether, when, or how he should be hanged? He decided not to ask at just this moment and, when they hauled him to his feet, when along with them without complaint." ~Diana Gabaldon in Written in My Own Heart's Blood

Jamie Fraser: Your Goddamn Warrior
My awesome niece, Taryn, posted a pretty amusing article on Facebook this morning:
"You Don't Need A Man, You Need A Goddamn Warrior"
Well of course I couldn't let that one go. Nope. I immediately thought of only one warrior, the warrior none of us could imagine life without. The warrior who means something different - something awesome - to every single one of us.
So Taryn, if you want a goddamn warrior, look no further. HERE is your goddamn warrior! 😘

Stream from Your Computer to your TV with an HDMI Cable
I have been meaning to mention this forever: Have you ever tried to watch something on TV, thinking it would be available on Netflix or On Demand, only to find out IT'S NOT???
Well here's what you do. *Buy an HDMI cable, attach it to your computer and TV, and stream the show/movie from your computer right onto your TV screen!
The cable pictured above is an HDMI to HDMI cable, so it'll go from an HDMI port in your computer to the HDMI port in your TV.
If you don't have an HDMI port in your computer, never fear, there are plenty of adapters available online!
Trust me; it's worth it!!! Tom and I do this all the time! It's so disappointing when you want to watch something that's only available online. And let's be honest, who wants wants to watch Jamie Fraser on a teeny weenie computer screenie???
*This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links and make a purchase, I’ll receive a small monetary compensation that helps offset costs of running this blog. Thanks for your support!

DAVID BERRY cast as LORD JOHN GREY!!!
DAVID BERRY CAST IN THE ROLE OF “LORD JOHN WILLIAM GREY” IN STARZ & SONY PICTURES TELEVISION’S “OUTLANDER”
Beverly Hills, Calif., August 29, 2016 – Starz, in association with Sony Pictures Television, has announced today that David Berry (“A Place to Call Home”) will play the role of “Lord John Grey” in the hit series “Outlander.” The series is adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling books by Ronald D. Moore (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation”).
Lord John William Grey is a steadfast and honorable British subject, torn between a finely-honed sense of familial duty and a strong moral compass of right and wrong. He is boyishly handsome with an upper class rearing -- the consummate gentleman. However, a scandal from his past has relegated Lord John to an undesirable position as governor of a desolate prison in Northern Scotland.
Acting and performing has always been David's passion however his path to acting has been rich and varied. David attended school on a music scholarship for voice, dividing his time between schoolwork and a professional singing career, performing for Opera Australia, as a soloist at numerous concerts and festivals and singing the National Anthem at some of the nation's top sporting events. Some highlights include singing as a juvenile lead in Opera Australia’s productions of “Albert Herring” (1997) and “Werther” (1998), and soloist in the Schools Spectacular in 2000/2001.
In 2002 David was awarded an academic scholarship to study Political Science at one of the world’s most prestigious schools, McGill University. After completing his studies, David returned home to Australia to pursue a career in acting. In 2008 he was accepted into the Bachelor of Dramatic Arts program at NIDA. Highlights include playing the role of Jason in Heiner Muller’s Medea: Materials which toured to the Adelaide Fringe festival, and playing John Wilkes Booth in the musical “Assassins.”
Upon graduating David has built up an impressive list of Film, TV and Theatre credits. Audiences will be most familiar with David for his role as James Bligh in the popular Australian Television show “A Place To Call Home,” for which he was nominated for Most Outstanding Supporting Actor in the 2016 Logie Awards. When he isn’t working on stage or screen, David tours both nationally and internationally as a singer with the highly successful corporate entertainment act, Scream and Shout.
Credits include: Lucien Chardon (lead) - Lost Illusions (NIDA 2010), John Wilkes Booth (lead) - Assassins (NIDA 2010), Jean - Men Without Shadows (NIDA 2011), Arthur (lead) - A Little Touch of Chaos (New Musicals Australia 2011), Jack Driscoll (lead) - King Kong the Musical (workshop) (Global Creatures 2011), Alastair - Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (ABC TV 2011), Logan Meyer - Home and Away (Channel 7 2012), James Bligh (lead) - A Place to Call Home (Channel 7, 2012), Brian Cleaver (lead) - The Crater (ABC TV, 2014), Roy/Priest - The Light in the Piazza (NIDA, 2014), Wintergreen (lead) - Of Thee I Sing (Squabbalogic, 2015).
“Book Three” will be based on the third of the eight books in the Outlander series, entitled Voyager, The third season of “Outlander” picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank. Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?
Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation”) developed the series adaptation for “Outlander.”
Diana Gabaldon’s eight-book series has sold more than 26 million copies worldwide and all eight books in the series have graced the New York Times best-sellers list. The “Outlander” series spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure in one grandiose tale.
“Outlander” is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining and Supply Company, and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.

Outlander Kitchen: Let's Fact-Check, Shall We?
This is the Outlander Kitchen, written by Theresa Carle-Sanders.
It is based on the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon.
It is not a Scottish cookbook.
It is not based on the Outlander television series on Starz.
It is not a research book about Scotland.
It *is* a terribly yummy read, with lots of recipes and references to the wonderfully diverse dishes and situations mentioned in the Outlander series.
If you are a fan of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (or if you just want some fabulous new dishes to add to your kitchen lineup), I encourage you to buy it.

"This second book was definitely a challenge for us, and Voyager for us is kind of like a homecoming. The stories lay out so much easier -- we see what they are, we see what the conflicts are and the dramatic moments."

All I Want is...
Thought I'd bring a little humor to the awesome discussion that's been happening in the comments of our last video. Everyone has a different opinion regarding the adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series on Starz...and EVERY opinion is welcomed on this blog, as long as it isn't a personal attack of any kind. We are all different...and life would be pretty boring if we all agreed 100% of the time. I respect the hell out of each and every one of you for loving this life-altering story...and for taking the time to voice your opinions here at My Outlander Purgatory. ❤️

Don't Jump the Shark, Screw the Pooch: Diana Gabaldon Explained!
This is a FASCINATING read from Herself, Diana Gabaldon, regarding her use of the term "jump the shark" in reference to Leghair's annoying return to the Outlander series on Starz in episode 8.
I have one thing to say:
I KNEW IT!!!!!
I said "This is a woman who has a zillion degrees! She's not sitting home watching television on a nightly basis! She didn't really mean "jump the shark!"
Sooooo sassenachs, I wanted to pass this along. It's a MUST READ if you've at all pondered Herself's commentary about the reappearance of that bitchy little trollop we call Laoghaire. :)

EPISODE 213: “Dragonfly in Amber”
Flashing forward to 1968, Claire travels to Scotland with her twenty-year-old daughter, Brianna, and meets Roger Wakefield. Claire visits Lallybroch and Culloden Moor to make peace with the past, while Brianna and Roger bond over researching Randall family history. Claire finally reveals the truth to Brianna about her time travel through the stones, her life in 1700’s Scotland, and Brianna’s true parentage. The story is intercut with another one back in the 18th century, which happens on the day of the Battle of Culloden. When Jamie’s last ditch attempts to deter The Prince fail, he and Claire come up with a dangerous plan – which Dougal overhears, inciting him to a murderous rage. Jamie must do everything he can to save the ones he loves, even if it means saying goodbye to some – or all --of them.>>>

OMJ Interview with My Outlander Purgatory!
Oh My Jersey!!! Those crazy MOP sisters are at it again!
Tracey and I were interviewed about our Outlander series journey by a brand new Celebrity/Style/Social Media website called OMJ last week.
"OMJ is the first smartphone website devoted to celebrity, style and social media in New Jersey. Our aim is to celebrate, elevate and connect the lives of women who live in — and love — New Jersey."
Our thanks to Kelly Dillon to paying some serious respect to both the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon and its adapted series on Starz. We also thank her for giving Tracey and me some much appreciated props for our devotion to all things Outlander!

MOP Chat
Hey y'all, just a quick post to let you know MOP Chat WILL be happening during the season...same time/same place:
Monday nights at 9PM Eastern in our usual MOP Chat room.
As I mentioned in our last video, it is tough for Tracey and me to attend MOP Chat every week during the Starz season. During the week, we do a lot of Outlander-related things necessary to keep up with our weekly recap videos. This makes for little to no time with our families and commitments...so we have to do a lot of juggling in order to keep everything on track in our little MOPlander universe!
My point? Please keep coming to chat as usual! If we are not there, we encourage you to talk amongst yourselves, and know that we are with you in spirit...and will be back full time after the Starz season ends!

Robert and Terry and Bear, OH MY!
OK so I took a lunch break and am watching last night's Outlander panel (see below.) And it's awesome. Bear McCreary is there, giving OUTSTANDING information about his musical work on Outlander. And being not only an Outlander fan, but also a fan of The Walking Dead and Black Sails, I am enamored of this man's talents.
I am also ecstatic because Terry Dresbach is making a rare panel appearance with the Outlander gang, giving us an up-close and personal view of the intricacies of Outlander costuming. Lets face it; who among us doesn't worship this gorgeous woman's amazing talents?!?
OK so why I'm feverishly typing: Ron and Bear just mentioned subbing a lyric from Robert Louis Stevenson into Bear's version of The Skye Boat Song (the opening song in Outlander) and I jumped out of my chair and grabbed my computer. (I haven't done that in quite some time...probably since the last time I had a Gabaldon novel in my hot little hands.)
OK so why did I flip out? Robert Louis Stevenson is a popular historical figure in my little fishing village of Brielle, New Jersey:
OK so let me get to my point:
On any given weekend in the summer, my family and I can be found boating around the Manasquan River, and spending time on what Robert Louis Stevenson affectionately nicknamed "Treasure Island" after his novel of the same name.
"Most notably, Robert Louis Stevenson, author of Treasure Island, visited in the late 1880s and completed portions of his novel The Master of Ballantrae. He would name Brielle’s Osborn Island after the titular island in his most famous work after a short cruise on the Manasquan River.
(excerpt from Clayton and Clayton Realtor webpage, "Shore Spotlight: Brielle, NJ)
Interestingly enough, The Master of Ballantrae novel focuses "upon the conflict between two brothers, Scottish noblemen whose family is torn apart by the Jacobite rising of 1745."
So yeah. That's the way my mind works. Ron and Bear start taking Robert Louis Stevenson...and Carol must go blog. And after doing so, I find out Robert Louis Stevenson wrote a portion of his book about the Jacobite Uprising in my teeny Jersey Shore town. Just another way Outlander weaves itself into the fabric of my life on a daily basis.

- Brielle is home to the first charter fishing business of Frank Mundus, aka the REAL "Quint" from the movie, Jaws.
- Brielle was home to the Union Salt Works that was burned to the ground by British Loyalists (Fraser's Highlanders, no less!) during the Revolutionary War 238 years ago today on April 6th, 1778!
- And what else is April 6th known for? Tracey's birthday!!

“Outlander” fans may enjoy the first full episode of the Golden Globe®-nominated series two days in advance of its official premiere on Saturday, April 9th at 9:00 pm ET/PT.
The eagerly-awaited second installment of “Outlander” is based upon the second of eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling Outlander series, entitled Dragonfly in Amber. The series is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation”).
The standalone STARZ streaming service launched today, offering the first-ever download capabilities from a premium pay TV streaming service. STARZ subscribers from cable, satellite and telco partners can also authenticate and view STARZ in the new, easy-to-use app.
The 13-episode second installment of “Outlander” begins as Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) arrive in France, hell-bent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart, and stopping the battle of Culloden. With the help of his cousin Jared, a local wine merchant, Jamie and Claire are thrown into the lavish world of French society, where intrigue and parties are abundant, but political gain proves far less fruitful. Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on the very fabric of their relationship. However, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it.
Ronald D. Moore, Jim Kohlberg, Andy Harries, Maril Davis, Ira Steven Behr, Toni Graphia and Anne Kenney serve as executive producers of “Outlander,” which is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Company and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.

Wonder what Douglas Henshall has been up to since we watched him meet his proud demise in Season 1 of Outlander? Look no further! He is starring in a new film called "Iona" that looks absolutely beautiful...and I am really looking forward to seeing it when it's available here in the US.
